Congratulations to the Burnses on their promotions. Brandon Burns (son of Susan Burns) was promoted to lieutenant colonel June 1. He is a pilot with the Alaska Air National Guard. His wife, Dr. Rebecca Burns, also a lieutenant colonel, is an obstetrician-gynecologist assigned to Elmendorf air base. Brandon and Rebecca have two girls, Addison, and Charlotte. The family has lived in Alaska for almost five years and absolutely love it there.

Kayla Aho, Justine Anderson, Phyllisseah Besch and Kieriahna Goodin were confirmed at Bethlehem Sunday, June 5. Also confirmed that day at Bethany were Phoenix Anderson, Keira Hascall, Larissa Homstad, James Lind, Haylee McCuskey and Hattie Olson. God’s blessings on these fine young people.

There was a lovely memorial service June 1 for Marion Larsen at Bethlehem in Wright. Her husband, Shel, has moved to White Bear Lake; his new address is The Pillars of White Bear, 4650 Centerville Road Apt 341, Saint Paul MN 55127-5057.

Get-well wishes go out to our former Lutheran pastor Ed Nieman. He is dealing with a very serious illness. Cards and letters can be sent to him at 13859 Quinn St. NW, Andover MN 55304-3944.

Summer hours at the co-op are Monday-Thursday 8 a.m.-6 p.m., Friday and Saturday 8 a.m.-8 p.m. and Sunday 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Save on gas, shop locally.

The Young Old Timers will meet at 12 p.m. Tuesday, June 14 at the Cromwell Park Pavilion. All area seniors are welcome.

Melinda Ferry wants folks to know they are invited to the burial service for her husband, Scott Ferry, who passed away March 24 this year. The service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 10 at Lakeside Cemetery and will be followed by a luncheon at the Lakeside School, featuring Scott’s favorite foods. Wear a hat in Scott’s honor.

Alpha Delta Kappa’s rummage, bake, plant and crafts sale is 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, June 10 and 11 at 38 County Road 138 in Barnum. All proceeds go toward their scholarship and literacy projects.

Plan ahead for the 61st reunion of the Cromwell Class of 1961 at the Buffalo House in Duluth on July 13, starting at 1 p.m. with a social gathering.

The next blood drive will be held 11:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. June 29 at the pavilion. To make an appointment, call Ray Lally at 218-644-3739, as they cannot be made online.

Wrong Days will be July 15-17. Buttons and $2 raffle tickets are available at Farmers Co-op and Kalli’s Place. Volunteers are needed to go around the area communities and gather prizes for the button drawings on Saturday. Call me at 218-357-2385 if you can help.

The 11th annual Kaleb Anderson memorial walk/run will be held July 2 at Cromwell Park. It starts at 7 a.m. with a pancake breakfast.

First-class postage goes up to 60 cents July 10, so get some extra Forever stamps and save a few cents. The Forever stamps you already have are still good and no additional postage needs to be added. Remember, a penny saved is a penny earned. My mom used to say pennies make dollars, and dollars make sense.

And speaking of my mom, Katharine Dahlman, she celebrated her 104th birthday in heaven June 5.
