Ramona L. Laveau, age 91 of Carlton, passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at Essentia Health/St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth. She was born December 23, 1930, the daughter of Stephen and Rose (Winter) Laubach. Ramona farmed with her husband, Alex, for many years in Wrenshall. She worked at Mahtowa Gas after Alex died, while milking 100 cows every morning and night with her son Peter and his wife Kim to keep the farm operating. Ramona was a member of St. Francis Catholic Parish in Carlton and was very involved with parish work; and many other civic activities.
Ramona was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alex; her son, Alex Jr .; and grandchildren, Tyler and Angel. She is survived by her children, David (Arletta) Laveau, Marie (Ralph) Swenson, Alice (Ron) Winn, Susan (John) Murray, Duane (Doreen) Laveau, Caroline (Byron) Johnson, John (Trisha) Laveau, Peter (Kim) Laveau, and Matthew (Kristie) Laveau; daughter-in-law, Lori (Nathan) Bandelin; 31 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; and numerous extended family members.
Visitation will be Monday, June 20, 2022, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Care in Cloquet with a Rosary Service at 6:30 p.m. The visitation will resume on Tuesday, June 21, 2022, at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Cloquet with a visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial.
