Celebrate Juhannus at Sampo Beach

Finlandia Foundation Northland invites all interested in Finnish culture to celebrate Juhannus at Sampo Beach on Little Grand Lake (7095 Saginaw Road, Saginaw) 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 25. This family friendly, alcohol-free celebration of midsummer is free and open to the public.

Juhannus is Finland's main national holiday. The event will feature traditional and contemporary Finnish activities such as making a vihta/vasta (a sauna whisk made out of birch branches), games such as mölkky (wooden pin toss game), music, swimming and sauna.

Coffee, pulla (Finnish cardamom bread) and sima will be available. Attendees may roast their own hot dogs and sausages on the campfire, or buy food from the grill trailer on site.
