Obituary: Neil Pirie McPhail

Neil P. McPhail, 78, of Cloquet passed away July 4, 2022, at Barnes Care in Esko. He was born Nov. 25, 1943, in Cloquet, the son of Leslie and Loretta (Haller) McPhail. Neil served in the United States Army National Guard for two years and worked at Potlatch for more than 40 years, becoming a member of the Potlatch Quarter Century Club. Neil especially loved cars and working on them. He also enjoyed four-wheeling with his friends.

Neil was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, James, Robert and Thomas McPhail; and infant sister Barbara. He is survived by his children Jason (Jillian) McPhail and Debra (Damon Tackett) McPhail; grandchildren Kendra, Caden, Erik, Justin and Gavin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation: 1 p.m. until the 2 p.m. memorial service Sunday, July 10 at Nelson Funeral Care in Cloquet with military honors presented by the Cloquet Combined Honor Guard. Refreshments will be served in the fellowship room. Inurnment service will be held Monday, July 11 at Hillside Cemetery in Carlton. Arrangements are with Nelson Funeral Care of Cloquet.
