Scott Eugene Helle passed away suddenly July 19, 2022, in Carlton, Minnesota at the age of 57. He was the son of Gene and Dru (Harmon) Helle, born Feb. 10, 1965, in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Scott was raised and went to school in Fenton, Iowa, where he completed high school with the Class of 1983. He attended Northwest Iowa Technical College in Sheldon, Iowa.
On Dec. 11, 1987, Scott was united in marriage to Jennifer (Clark) Filmer in Storm Lake, Iowa. Scott was very proud to have served in the U.Sc. Army. He worked in plumbing and heating prior to a 27-year career with the Iowa Department of Corrections at North Central Correctional Facility in Rockwell City. After retiring, Scott and Jenny moved to northern Minnesota. Scott worked for the City of Carlton, doing part-time maintenance. He enjoyed working outdoors and took great pride in a job well done. Scott enjoyed fishing, camping, riding motorcycles and, most importantly, spending time with his family. He always had a project underway.
Scott was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Drucilla Helle; father-in-law Daryl Terry; uncle Mark Helle; sister-in-law Linda Clark; and nephew Anthony Clark. He is survived and will be deeply missed by his wife, Jenny Helle, of Esko, Minnesota; his children Jessie (Dusty) Corning of Katy, Texas, and Mike (Kelsey) Helle of Carlton; grandchildren Lily and Dylan Corning, and Sawyer and Brooklyn Helle; brother Shad (Tara) Helle; mother-in-law Sue Terry; father-in-law Duane (Janet) Clark; and numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service was held July 24 at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Humboldt, Iowa, with inurnment at St. Olaf Cemetery in Bode, Iowa. Arrangements are with Mason Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt.
