Clara B. Muermann, 98, Cloquet, passed away July 28, 2022, at Inter-Faith Care Center in Carlton. She was born June 1, 1924, in Chetek, Wisconsin to Lawrence and Pauline (Hess) Amundson. Clara graduated from Chetek High School in 1942. After high school she moved to Washington, D.C. and California and did secretarial work for the war effort.
On Nov. 8, 1945, Clara married LaVerne "Bud" Muermann in Chetek. They moved to Cloquet, where they raised their family.
Clara enjoyed dancing, spending time at the cabin, gardening and reading. She was hard-working, doing many refinishing and landscaping projects. She and Bud also ran a bait shop for a few years and she also worked at Potlatch. Clara was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Cloquet.
Clara was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bud, in 1988; son, Dennis; daughter, Deanna Mortinsen; sister, Margret Gray; and infant granddaughter Deborah Mortinsen.
She is survived by her granddaughters Denise Haworth, Dawn Clemons and Kimberly (Jason) Halvorson; great-granddaughters, Lillian and Cora; son-in-law, Clyde Mortinsen; and sister-in-law Gwen Muermann.
