Harvest Fest in Cromwell

While the scarecrow contest and medallion hunt kick off Monday in Cromwell, the rest of the Harvest Festival activities are set for the following weekend,

Sept. 9-11.

On Friday, there’s a steak fry from 4-7 p.m. for $15 a plate for steak, $5 a plate for a hot dog, with a high school football game in Ely and bingo back home. Six balloonists will be showing at the school football field Friday night (lighted show) and two times on Saturday. They will offer tethered rides on Saturday.

Saturday is the big day with a patriotic salute at 9:15 a.m. followed by a kiddie parade at 9:30 and kids games to follow, including a scavenger hunt, bean bags and clowns, balloons and face painting starting at 11 a.m.

Adults can have fun too, with a bean bag tournament starting at 2 p.m., music in the park 1-4 p.m., a pie and ice cream social, a beer garden 11 a.m.-4 p.m. and a Saturday night dance at the pavilion featuring River Hill Rangers from 8 p.m. to midnight. Crafters and vendors will set up from 9 a.m.

to 3 p.m.

On Sunday, there will be pancake breakfast 8- 9:30 a.m. The Riverside Drifters show begins at 9 a.m. and community worship at 10 a.m.
