Obituary: Martha E. Nelson

Martha E. Nelson, 84, of Cloquet passed away Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2022, at Diamond Willow. She was born Aug. 22, 1938, in Williams, Minnesota, the daughter of Herman and Lydia (Johnson) Grangruth. Martha worked as a waitress and seamstress most of her life. She enjoyed fishing, camping, crafting, sewing, bowling, doing puzzles and playing games. It gave Marty great joy to donate and gift her handcrafted and handsewn items to charity organizations and friends.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents and numerous siblings. She is survived by her children Brenda (Mark) Johnson, Kim (Lee) Johnson, Brad (Shelley) Nelson and Scott (Mary) Nelson; one brother, Bill (Janice) Grangruth; sisters Theresa Hill and Vida Lukanen; grandchildren Nichole Johnson, Dustin (Lindsay) Johnson, Dallas (Danielle) Johnson, Kori (Katey) Perkkio, Tony (Amanda) Nelson and Logan Gallup; great-grandchildren Cash, Bayla, Carson, Cyrus, Ava, Finnegan, Allette, Allister and Eilee; and granddog, Moose.

A Celebration of Life for Martha will be held 1-3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18 at Nelson Funeral Care in Cloquet with refreshments in the fellowship room.
