Wright/Cromwell news

We held a beautiful visitation and memorial service for my husband, Bob Hanson, on Oct. 21 and 22. Friends and relatives came from miles around and made our day great. Yes, it was sad, but with all that comfort and support we feel good about Bob’s life and know he is in a better place. I even gave the eulogy, and our son, Curtis, read a poem by Rick Gresczyk. David Hedin shared memories of growing up as a neighbor to Bob on Center Road, and Lindsay Lally talked about the painting of Bob that was on display. Todd Carlson gave the message, Pat Cain provided the music, and the congregation sang three hymns. Our sons and their families, Bob’s brother and sisters, and I thank everyone for the flowers, cards, memorials, and messages of sympathy. They mean a lot to us!

I want to share parts of the eulogy in the next few weeks. I started out with these words: “I want to explain how we got this beautiful urn for Bob’s ashes. My brother Mark came over the day Bob died (Oct. 1) and asked if he could make the urn. I said sure, but then he also wanted to go up in our barn and pick out some boards from the logs Bob had cut on our land, sawed into lumber, and stored for years. … Then, I got Covid and had to postpone the service for two weeks. But this gave us extra time to do the planning, which was a blessing we hadn’t expected.” I’ll add more parts of the eulogy in future columns.
