Community Ed goes hunting

To borrow from the Looney Tunes: “Is it rabbit season or duck season?” For Cloquet Community Education and Recreation, the answer is resoundingly “duck season.” Community Ed kicked off its second duck hunt earlier this month by planting four rubber ducks in Pinehurst Park.

Folks who take selfies with the ducks and post them onto the Community Ed Facebook page are entered into a monthly drawing to win a $20 gift certificate to Carmen’s Bar and Restaurant.

The contest lasts through March, with ducks moving to a different park each month. As of now, there are four ducks hidden in Pinehurst Park. Community Ed will announce the next hiding place on its Facebook page.

It’s the second time Community Ed has conducted the duck hunt contest, which began in 2021. The ducks were later stolen, causing last year’s contest to go by the wayside.

“This time I hung them up higher,” Bates said, giving a clue to where best to look. “We’ve had quite a few people, so far. People are enjoying it.”
