The next city council meeting is at 7 p.m., Feb. 14 at the Kettle River Senior Center.

The next Ma & Pa Kettle committee meeting is at 1 p.m. Jan. 29 at the Kettle River Senior center. It is important that people attend this meeting.

In 1967, my brother and I purchased the Edelweiss Resort in Sturgeon Lake. My brother and his wife lived upstairs, and my husband, son, and I lived downstairs. We shared the telephone. One winter day my sister-in-law got a phone call, and I answered the phone. The caller asked for her and I answered, “She isn’t here, she is down at the beach.” There was a long pause, and then the caller said, “Do you have snow there?” I then realized what I had said and told him, “She is clearing snow off the lake to make the skating rink.” I could hear his sigh of relief when I told him that.
