Our sympathies to the families of Arvin Anderson, Dolly Niemi and Margaret Webster who recently passed away.
Margaret Webster’s daughter, Kaija, texted from Antarctica that Margaret passed away Feb. 9 in hospice at St. Luke’s. Her family is planning a celebration of life on May 27, hopefully at Bethany Lutheran Church. Ann Markusen visited her a few weeks ago when Margaret was in the nursing home. She seemed fine, and, toward the end, kept her eyes on the elevator doors, thinking Dan would be coming out of there at any moment. Hard losing such a dynamic person in our community. I remember how she “yoiked” during one of our variety shows.

Clyde Homstad Sr. always said that if the groundhog saw his shadow on Groundhog Day we would have six more weeks of winter. If not, we would have only a month and a half.
My dad drove the school bus for 37 years and occasionally he would tell the kids as they boarded the bus, that they would have only a half day of school in the morning. The other half would be in the afternoon!
Spring, and jokes and trivia: Equinox means equal day and night. So, since the earth is tilting towards the sun, the first day of spring is called the spring equinox. Another term is the vernal equinox. The robin is usually associated with spring in North America. Also, there are six months of uninterrupted daylight at the North Pole when spring comes.
Why did the bird go to the hospital? It needed tweet-ment!
How excited was the gardener about spring? So excited he wet his plants.
Stay happy and healthy.
