Obituary: Corey Stephenson

Corey Jean Stephenson, 46, of Cloquet passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2023, in Community Memorial Hospital. She was born on April 1, 1976, in Virginia, Minnesota to John and Wanda Limmer; John passed away when she was young. She was raised by her stepfather, Marlan Parks. Corey attended school in Virginia, graduating in 1994. On July 8, 2000, Corey married Phillip Stephenson in Duluth.

Corey worked in education, first with Dixon Elementary School and Dixon Middle School as a substitute teacher in North Carolina from 2010 to 2017, then for Cloquet Middle School as the lunch lady in 2018. She also worked for Washington Elementary School in Cloquet as a paraprofessional from 2018 to 2023.

Corey enjoyed spending time in her garden, hiking, baking, watching Hallmark movies, playing board games with her friends, and especially going camping with her family.

She was preceded in death by both of her dads; brother-in-law Timothy Stephenson; and all of her grandparents. Corey will be deeply missed by her husband, Phillip; son, John Stephenson; daughter, Martha Stephenson; mother, Wanda Parks; in-laws Jeff and Selma Stephenson; her many aunts and uncles; nieces and nephews; and a laundry list of other family and friends that she considered family.

Visitation: 3 p.m. until the 4 p.m. memorial service Friday, Feb. 24 in Hope Lutheran Church, 4093 Munger Shaw Road, Cloquet. A luncheon will follow the service.
