Eugene Emery Tuominen, 86, of Saginaw passed away at Brooke Manor, where he had resided the last 3 ½ years, on Tuesday, March 7, 2023. He was born in Cedar Valley, Minnesota on Oct. 27, 1936, to Arthur and Vienna Tuominen.
Eugene was a 1954 graduate of Floodwood High School. He met the love of his life, Lela Heckman, and joined hands in marriage in June of 1957. Eugene was the owner of Valley Green Landscaping for many years and sold Christmas trees. Eugene loved landscaping, collecting rocks, gems and creating gem trees. Eugene and Lela enjoyed wintering in Arizona and babysitting the grandkids and great-grandkids.
Eugene was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Dale; and his brother, Archie.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lela; daughters, Patti (Brian) McIntosh, Nancy Tuominen and Cindy (Eric) Brademan; sons Dan (Ginny) Tuominen and David Tuominen; grandchildren, Kristin, Kacey, Tyler, Tara, Ashley (Brandon), Trey, Dain (Krista), Jace, Elias and Kai; great-grandchildren, BrookeLynn, Danny, Charlotte, Anastacia and Jaden; sister, Kathy (Dennis) Juusola; brother Michael (Cindy) Tuominen; and nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation: 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Celebration of Life service Saturday, March 11 in Atkins Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th St., Cloquet. A luncheon will follow the service in the Fireside Room of the funeral home. Burial will be in Cedar Valley Cemetery in the spring.
