This month is interesting, as it has several dates that are palindromes, such as 3-2-23, 3-20-23, 3-21-23, 3-22-23. That means they can be read forward and backward and still be the same. Also, the first day of spring is March 20.. Summer weather can’t be far off now, although with all the recent snowstorms, it’s difficult to imagine.

Our sympathies to the family of Gary Lee Oja, 68, who died March 6. He was reunited with his mom, Maxine Oja, his dad, Henry Oja, his grandparents and other relatives. A private family burial was scheduled for March 17 in the Lakeview Cemetery in Wright. Visitation is 10 a.m. until noon Saturday, March 18 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wright. Yoga is 11 a.m.-12 p.m. Mondays at the Cromwell Park Pavilion. $3 a person covers city rental. Gear provided.

Lenten services will be held on Wednesdays at Bethlehem on March 22 and at Bethany in Cromwell on March 15 and 20, with soup suppers at 5:45 p.m. and worship at 6:30 p.m. All area folks are welcome to attend. I will be leading worship at Bethlehem on March 22, and Rod Walli on March 29.

The next Young Old Timers (YOT) dance is 1-4 p.m. March 23 at the Pavilion with music by Fllorian Chmielewski at the Pavilion.

March is National FoodShare Month and Minnesota’s FoodShare’s March Campaign. Tri-Community Food Shelf in Cromwell will once again be participating in the campaign, which runs through April 9. This the largest grassroots food and funds drive in the state. All donations to our food shelf will receive a proportionate match, meaning that your donation will go even further. The Cromwell-Wright fourth-graders are holding a fundraiser for the food shelf; their goal is $1,200. Donations can be made to any elementary classroom or Mr. Koenig’s Classroom at the high school. Final day for donations is April 6.

The Encore Theater in Cloquet presents the one-act play, “Tracks” on March 17-19 and March 30-April 2. In this story by Peter Tarsi, a group of strangers from all over the country meet in a subway station, only to learn there is no way out to the station. They are faced with the unfortunate truth, and must decide whether to board an approaching subway train. Tickets are available online or by calling 218-878-0071.

The Spring Fling craft show and vendor expo is 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, March 16 at the Floodwood Ambulance Building, 702 Fir St., Floodwood.

St. Patrick’s bingo hosted by the Wright Seniors is 1-3 p.m. Saturday, March 18 at the senior center. Cards are 50 cents each or three for $1. Snacks are provided.

Ham bingo sponsored by the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church starts at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, March 18 at the Cromwell Park Pavilion. Raffle baskets, free popcorn, freewill offering lunch. Bingo cards are 50 cents each per game or $10 for 20 games.

For the months of March, April and May, Countryside Sanitation will be accepting appliances for free, including washers, dryers, hot water heaters, refrigerators, stoves, furnaces, lawn mowers, and snowmobiles.
