Alice J. Johnson, 94, of Cloquet passed away March 18, 2023, at Sunnyside Health Care Center. She was born May 22, 1928, in Cloquet to Lawrence and Violet Johnson and was a lifelong Cloquet resident.
Alice was a 1946 Cloquet High School graduate. She married Paul Johnson on Sept. 4, 1950, in Cloquet. She worked as a cook for the Cloquet School District for 26 years.
Alice was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Cloquet and was active with the church's funeral food circle, newsletter, bulletin, and a greeter during services. She volunteered at Sunnyside Health Care Center, calling bingo games for many years.
Alice loved to watch her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren play sports. Knitting was a passion, especially making hats and mittens. Alice participated in bowling leagues and qualified for the Senior Olympics numerous times. She was a member of the VFW Women's Auxiliary of the Hebert-Kennedy Post 3979 of Cloquet.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul, in 1981; brothers, Lloyd (Bea) Johnson and Dwayne (Lawonna) Johnson; and sister, Jean Bolme. She is survived by her daughter, Candee (Paul) Carlson; sons, Keith (Cheryl) and Kevan (Nancy) Johnson; grandchildren, Lori Carlson, Aaron Carlson, Jessica (Jake) Davis, Ryanne (Steve) Battaglia, Angela (Terry) Laine, Rachel Nentl and Paul
Johnson; great-grandchildren, Logan MacLeod-Carlson, Morgan
Carlson, Noah MacLeod, Jack Battaglia, Olivia Battaglia, Jayce Laine, Ailie Laine, Sophia Laine and Charlie Nentl; brother-in-law, Bob Bolme; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the Sunnyside Health Care Center for the compassionate care shown to Alice and her family.
