The Cloquet Middle School MathCounts team placed second overall in regional Arrowhead competition in February and qualified for state competition as a team. Devin Cary was first overall, qualifying as an individual as well. Pictured here are team members Patrick Radosevich, Devin Cary, Matthew Mangan, Adriana Mondati and coach Arne Maijala. The state contest in early March included 125 middle-schoolers from across the state who took part in math-skill games to get acquainted and then took three paper tests. Top scorers then faced off and answered a series of announced questions. Cloquet did not qualify for nationals, which take place in May in Orlando. The top four mathletes at state form Minnesota's national team.
