The Carlton community is beginning to buzz with excitement as plans are being finalized for the annual community celebration. Circle July 28-29-30 on your calendar and come out to gather with family and friends for fun, food and live music for Carlton Daze at the Carlton VFW and the Third Base Bar. Don’t forget the parade at 1 p.m. Sunday, July 30. Live music will be provided by Stranded on July 28 and by Vinyl Recliner on July 29.

Veterans interested in joining Carlton VFW Post 2962 and/or the Carlton VFW Auxiliary, contact the VFW at 218-384-3794. Please consider becoming a part of this community organization.

Check out bingo at 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays and the meat raffle at 6 p.m. Fridays at the VFW.

The Carlton VFW Auxiliary is planning its Gigantic Garage Sale fundraiser for Sept. 9 and 10, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days. To make arrangements for donations, contact Linda at 218-428-0496. Clothing and shoes will not be accepted.

The Robert Rodd scholarship rummage sale fundraiser will be held Aug. 10-12 at the Four Seasons Complex in Carlton. Need a space to have your rummage sale? Spaces will be available for a $25 donation to the scholarship fund. Contact Leola Rodd at 218-310-6065 for more information.

SoulShine Salon & Spa (formerly Sheryl’s Golden Shears) will have its open house 4-7 p.m. Friday, July 28.

Four Seasons Sports Complex & Event Center board meets at 7 p.m. on July 19.

Four Seasons collects aluminum cans, which may be put into the trailer located on the south side of the complex. The complex is available for small or large events. Contact Leola Rodd, 218-310-6065, for more information.

Wanted: volunteers to make mats out of clean plastic shopping bags for those in need. The Bethesda Mat Makers meet 9-11 a.m. Tuesdays at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Carlton. If you are unable to volunteer on Tuesdays, contact Mary Saarela for instructions on how you can work from home. Donations of bags can be brought to the church and to Northwoods Credit Union in Moose Lake and Cloquet. Contact Mary Saarela, 218-393-2693.

Bethesda Lutheran Church is collecting for a cause: pop tops off aluminum cans for the Ronald McDonald House; brown paper grocery bags for a nonprofit thrift store; and new greeting cards for Inter-Faith Care Center, Carlton Place and Pine View Apartments residents to use.
