Betty Joyce Isaacson, 83, of Cloquet passed away July 30, 2023, at Essentia Health hospital in Duluth. She was born July 23, 1940, in Kalevala Township, the daughter of Carl and Eva (Anderson) Mattson. Betty graduated from Cromwell High School in 1958 and was united in marriage to Larry Isaacson on July 28, 1956. She worked as a cashier at Red Owl and SuperOne for many years. Betty was a faithful member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Cloquet, Ladies of Kalevala, and the Sampo Association. In her early years of marriage, she enjoyed bowling, dancing, portaging, fishing and camping. Betty loved baking for people, and collecting angels and giving them to many people.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Kevin Isaacson; sisters, Shirley Carlson and Jane Lindgren; and a brother, Jerry Mattson. She is survived by her husband, Larry Isaacson; children, Steve (Mary) Isaacson, Craig Isaacson, Tim (Diane) Isaacson, Rusty Isaacson, and Tami (Bruce) Matuszak; sister-in-law, Karen Mattson; 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for Betty was held Aug. 1 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Cloquet. Arrangements entrusted to Nelson Funeral Care.
