On Saturday, Veterans Park echoed with music and filled with people of all ages, as the Wood City Worship Festival returned for its 10th time. Despite some evening rain, turnout was quite good.
"It went above and beyond what we dreamed," said Joe Nelson, a board member of Kingdom Builders Ministries, which organizes the annual event.
As part of that outreach, he was enthusiastic about the 31 baptisms performed during the festival.
"Some people who won't go to church will go to a music
festival," Nelson said.
In addition to the baptisms, music and worship, there were copious kids' activities.
The bouncy house with a slide was a constant attraction, with a line throughout the day, while the scheduled foam parties were a huge hit as well, creating mountains of suds for the kids to play in.
By the time Ireland's We Are Messengers began performing, the rain had stopped and people were able to enjoy the music comfortably in their lawn chairs while others swayed with their arms raised above their heads in front of the stage.
