On Monday, Aug. 7, the Cloquet Educational Foundation held its 20th annual golf fundraiser at the Cloquet Country Club. Over 20 teams and 100 players participated in the popular event, which raised more than $12,000.
"It was a beautiful summer day, and we are very thankful for all the players and sponsors of this important event," said Cloquet Educational Foundation executive director Jody Acers.
The winning team was the Cloquet High School boys golf team with an impressive score of 54, 17 under par.
Definitely winning "closest to the pin" on Hole No. 4 was Ryan Salo Korby with a hole-in-one over the gully.
"I knew it was going to be close, but it actually hit the flag and dropped straight in," said Korby. It was his third career hole-in-one on CCC's No. 4, all with different clubs.
Sponsors included Split Rock Private Trading, Members Cooperative Credit Union, and Reliable Insurance Agency.
The Cloquet Educational Foundation provides opportunities for academic, artistic, athletic, cultural, and social growth for children and youth in the Cloquet area by financially supporting programs and activities. This is one of the foundation's major summer fundraisers.
