Rhonda Peleski, clerk/treasurer for Thomson Township, submitted her resignation letter to the board of supervisors last week, after more than 30 years. Her retirement date is March 31, but Peleski has big shoes to fill, with the list of qualifications and minimum requirements spanning three pages.
“We’ve accomplished many positive things through those years,” she wrote in her brief letter of intent to retire. The board reluctantly accepted her letter during its Aug. 17 meeting.
In addition to attending and transcribing minutes for official township meetings and the full-time clerk/treasurer is also a member of the township’s planning and zoning commission: and personnel committee, and coordinates benefits, maintains all financial records and prepares the annual report, manages payroll, bonding, tax payments and much more.
In other matters Thursday, supervisor Tony Compo informed the board that the problem with the fire department ladder truck was a switch that wasn’t getting activated when the truck was in park, so it will be back in service soon. Also, the board approved an increase to $2,700 per year retirement for fire department members in good standing. The funds should be covered by the Fire Department Relief Association investments, but the vote means the township guarantees the retirement payouts at that rate.
