Elvera Marie Maki, 92, passed away peacefully at Inter-Faith Care Center in Carlton on Aug. 20, 2023. She was born July 22, 1931, to Charles and Alva Olson in Aitkin.
Elvera was very energetic and enjoyed her daily walks. She loved conversations with friends at the senior center. She loved sharing life stories with friends and family. She had a big heart and a lot of love for everyone.
Elvera was a faithful member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church as well as the VFW Auxiliary. She especially enjoyed volunteering at the Christmas and Halloween children's parties put on by the VFW.
Elvera worked for Diamond Brands for many years. She had a love for travel in her younger years.
Elvera is preceded in death by her husband, Allen Maki; brothers, Charles and Harlan Olson; and her son-in-law, Mike Koncal. She will be missed greatly by her daughter, Pamela Koncal; grandchildren, Jeremy Koncal, Melanie (Shane) Schwartz, and Kristy Koncal; as well as great-grandchildren, Devin Schwartz, Dylan Schwartz, and Hailey Hanks; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service in honor of Elvera will be held at 11 a..m. on Aug. 30 at Nelson Funeral Care in Cloquet. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the ceremony. Interment will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery in Cloquet. A luncheon will follow at the funeral home.
