A rugged run

Cody Bourke-Anderson, left, and Tom Anderson trail run near a beaver dam during the Lost Forester run at Pine Valley in Cloquet on a misty cool morning Saturday. Bourke-Anderson, from Brook Park, won the 8-mile leg of the race for men while Katerina Svensson of Brooklyn Park won among the women. Joe Fournier of Proctor and Ruth Reeves of Esko won in the 5.5K race. Bill Helwig of Carlton and Anne-Lu Hovis of Knife River won in the 11K. The shorter races were run on the area's ski trails. The planned 11K turned out to be 13.75K. The 8-mile was on the trails with some off-road sections as well, and ended up being 11.25 miles. There were 34 people registered for the race.
