Carol Annette (Lussier) Bergstrom, 85, of Cloquet passed away peacefully Sept. 20, 2023 at St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth. Carol was born in Red Lake, at the Red Lake Indian Hospital to Elsie Lussier on Jan. 8, 1938. She was lovingly raised by her grandparents Adam and Mary Lussier. Carol attended St. Mary's Mission school for grades K-8 and graduated from Red Lake High School in 1956. She was a proud member of the Red Lake Band of Chippewa Indians.
Carol married LeRoy on Sept. 28, 1956, and together they raised their seven children in Carlton. After her children were grown, LeRoy and Carol moved to Cloquet, where Carol then worked at the Cloquet Community Memorial Hospital. Carol especially enjoyed her bingo club, sewing club, baking, and her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was deeply grounded in her Christian faith.
Carol is survived by her husband of 67 years, LeRoy Bergstrom; daughters, Anita Kavanaugh (Patrick), Kathleen Johnson (Neil), Susan Johnson (Pat Page), Betty Johnson (fiancé, Pat Faherty), Donna Bergstrom (Skip Fischer) and Amy Bergstrom; and son, LeRoy Bergstrom (Lisa). In addition to her children, she was a proud grandmother of 18 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Carol was preceded in death by her mother, grandparents, siblings and numerous other relatives.
