A hometown newspaper with a local office, local owners & lots of local news
Our dear mother, Barbara Anne (Pacini) Garsow, passed away on Sept. 28, 2023, after a brief battle with cancer. She left this world peacefully, surrounded by family in the comfort of her home, at the age of 84. Barbara was born on June 22, 1939, in Two Harbors to Tony and Anna Pacini. She lived in Massachusetts for a short period of time but resided the majority of her life in Minnesota. She raised a family of four and was blessed with 55 years of marriage to her husband, Raymond. She worked at a local optometrist's for many years, then enjoyed a long and happy retirement traveling with her husband.
A caring and devoted mother, she had many talents she shared with her family. She spent endless hours sewing and knitting, creating beautiful, timeless holiday stockings and sweaters for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She never forgot a birthday or anniversary and would always find the right card to send. She found a love of watercolors and shared this talent with her family. Many of her paintings hang proudly in the homes of her children and grandchildren with her famous signature, "B. Garsow." Barbara also loved a friendly game or two of cribbage with friends and family. Many happy memories shared by all. She has touched many of our lives and will be greatly missed.
But we remember now in love,
Your life from start to end,
And we're just glad we knew you,
As Mother, and as Friend.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Thomas and Roland; and devoted husband, Raymond.
She is survived by her four children, Thomas (Kathleen) Garsow of Cloquet, Debra (Paul) Mendelson of Fairfax, Virginia, Kathryn (Dale) Hartwig of Maple Lake, and Susan (Peter) Halloran of Milford, New Hampshire; and 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 9 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Cloquet. Burial will follow the Memorial Mass at New Calvary Cemetery, Cloquet. Bars and coffee will follow after the burial at Queen of Peace Catholic Church. To sign the guest book and leave an online tribute, see http://www.atkinsnorthlandfuneralhome.com.
