Lumberjacks, Esko soccer headed to section championship games Tuesday

Both the girls and boys Lumberjacks soccer teams and the Esko girls soccer team are aiming for a section championship Tuesday and another trip to State. All three teams are seeded No. 1 in their section.

After defeating Two Harbors 14-0 and Legacy Christian Academy 5-1, the Esko girls team will play Duluth Marshall at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Esko for the Section 7A championship.

After a first round bye, the Cloquet-Carlton girls team beat Hermantown 1-0 on Thursday to advance to the section championship game Tuesday against North Branch.

The Cloquet-Esko-Carlton boys team also had a bye, and defeated Duluth Denfeld 2-0 at Esko Thursday. They will face No. 2 seeded Grand Rapids in the 7AA section finals.

The site of the 7AA boys and girls championship games has yet to be determined. If the Cloquet track construction is complete, they will play in Cloquet at 5:30 and 7:30 Tuesday. If not, the games will be played at Denfeld High School in Duluth.
