As most of you know, I am dealing with Stage 1 triple-negative breast cancer. I’m done with chemotherapy, have gotten the mastectomy, and am now getting radiation treatments. I thought I would be finished with the treatments on Oct. 25, but my doctors said because of the type of cancer I have, I need 33 treatments instead of the 20 I thought I’d have. It’s kind of a disappointment, but I will do what the doctors tell me to do.
The Carlton County Historical Society announced that the 2024 barn calendars are now available. Memberships are also encouraged.
The society no longer charges admission and memberships are only $15 to $20 a year. Donations of the following items are needed: reams of copy paper, kitchen-size 13-gallon trash bags, expanding manila file folders, postage stamps, paper towels and glue dots.
You can drop off your donations 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday-Friday and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday until Nov. 1.
Have you stopped at the new Northern Grind coffee hut behind City Hall in Cromwell? You enter on the Pavilion driveway and then loop around the city hall to the north, and you will be there. Hours are 5:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Monday-Friday and 8 a.m.-noon Saturdays. The shop carries bakery treats from the McGregor Bakery.
Chilloween has been moved back to one location. It will take place Oct. 27 at the Cromwell Pavilion. The family party will be held 5:30-7:30 p.m. and the party for grades 7-12 will be held 8-9:30 p.m. Costumes are encouraged. Questions, call 218-838-6275.
There will be a joint worship service with Bethany at Bethlehem at 9 a.m. on Oct. 29. A potluck lunch will follow the service.
The all-church hayride is 4:30-6:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 29 at 6737 Pacific Ave. in Wright. The hayride starts at 5 p.m., and will be followed by a meal. In case of bad weather, meet in the big shed.
The Cromwell Area Community Club’s hunter’s supper is 4-7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3 at the Cromwell Pavilion. On the menu: turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, vegetable, gravy, roll and pumpkin pie.
The Red Bird Bazaar is 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Nov. 4 at the school in Cromwell. Admission is $1.
There will be a cash bingo fundraiser for the Cromwell-Wright senior high school choir trip 6-9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28 at the Cromwell Pavilion. There will be a potluck dinner before, starting at 5:30 p.m., also at the pavilion.
There will be a free coat and sweater giveaway at the Clothing Depot in Cromwell on Oct. 31 and Nov. 2 and 4.
