Lorraine Violet Hill, 95, of Esko passed away on Oct. 28, 2023, at St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth.
Lorraine was born to Nels and Johanna Olson on March 21, 1928, in Oulu, Wisconsin. She graduated from Superior High School in 1946. She met Edward Hill over a pickle barrel while working at Ed's Bakery in Superior. They were married Feb. 4, 1950, and Lorraine then stayed home to raise their children.
Lorraine was a Sunday School teacher, a member of the Ruth Circle, and chaired many different groups at St. Matthews for 30-plus years. What she loved the most was gardening, and she won numerous Grand Champion ribbons from the Esko fair. Many will miss the flowers she provided for church functions.
She was preceded by her husband; parents; three angel siblings; and siblings Vida, Carl, Henry, Nellie, Millie, Siggie, Albin and Conrad.
Lorraine will be missed by her children, Rebecca (William) Gaede, Debora Hill and Steven Hill; sister Olive Kronberg; grandchildren, John (Cassie) Gaede, Jeff Gaede, Anna (Joe) Burkett, Matt (Jordyn) Hill and Mike Hill; great-grandchildren, Jenna Gaede, Jack, Paul and Macy Gaede, Grayson and Ezra Burkett, and Olive, Theo and Conrad Hill.
Visitation: 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. service on Friday, Nov. 3 at St. Matthews Lutheran Church, 4 Elizabeth Ave., Esko. A luncheon will follow the service. Burial at St. Matthews Cemetery.
