A hometown newspaper with a local office, local owners & lots of local news
Cecil R. Boedigheimer, 93, passed away Monday, Oct. 30, 2023, at Sunnyside Health Care Center in Cloquet.
Cecil was born and spent his entire life in the Cloquet/Scanlon area. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roman and Cecilia, and seven siblings, Donald, Vernon, Frances, MaryAnn, Kenneth, Leslie and Gordon. He was also preceded in death by an infant son, Gene; his wife, Gail; and the mother of his children, Annie (Jerry) Kriske.
After retiring, his days were spent at the local coffee shops with “the boys” and at Black Bear Casino (never more than $20 … or so he told us), and watching “Gunsmoke” (Matt got shot in the arm again … it’s a wonder he has an arm left!). He was a member of the American Legion for 66 years.
To say he will be greatly missed is an understatement. He leaves behind his son Scott (Paula) Boedigheimer and three daughters, Jenny (Gary) Hedin, Annette (Bruce) Bryant and Lynne (Brian) Hoover; five grandchildren, Lindsey (Niklaus) Forstbauer, Hillary Hedin, Scottie Boedigheimer, Tommy Boedigheimer and Jennie (Jeroam DeFoe) Bryant; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their love and gratitude to the staff at Sunnyside — we are so glad his last days were with the exceptional staff that work there. You guys are the best. “Shave and a haircut, six bits.”
Per his request, there will be no service. Interment at Sandy Lake Cemetery.
Arrangements entrusted to Atkins-Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th St., Cloquet. To sign the guestbook and make an online tribute, see http://www.atkinsnorthlandfuneralhome.com.
