Dennis Milberger, 74, lifelong resident of Cloquet, passed away Nov. 13, 2023. He was born June 26, 1949, to Gordon and Verona.
Dennis served as a Specialist 4th Class in the U.S. Army from Jan. 25, 1967, until he was honorably discharged on May 27, 1969.
He loved the outdoors and could often be found in the woods, cutting and splitting firewood
to sell. He also took much pride when talking about putting up power lines in northern
Minnesota.
In his earlier years, his hobbies included bonding with his brothers during deer season, and fishing with friends on a riverbank or out on Taylor Lake.
As his blindness prevailed, his pastime was listening to every sports broadcast on the radio. His last listen was that of the Vikings win on Sunday afternoon.
Our dad wasn’t about frills or a production of any kind. Among his favorite slogans: “Keep it simple.” “You can’t win them all.” “Different strokes for different folks.”
His love and empathy for all animals was like no other.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; beloved grandmother, Hannah; very special uncle, Vernie; brothers Duane and David; and his most loved dog, Pepper.
He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Margaret; two children, Tonia and Kevin; five grandchildren, Desiree, Chelsea, Brandt, Austin and Kloey; four great-grandchildren: Aedon, Mackenzie, Genevieve and Amelia; siblings Ross, Mickey and Kelly; and best friend, Todd.
A Celebration of Life for Dennis was planned for 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 16, with military honors at 5:30 p.m., at Nelson Funeral Care in Cloquet.
