Scott Allan Sunnarborg passed away at the age of 65 on Dec. 8, 2023, at his home in Esko. Scott was born on Aug. 25, 1958, to Kenneth and Claudia (Sink) Sunnarborg in Duluth. He attended Esko schools and graduated in 1977. Scott worked as a heavy equipment operator for Thomson Township and St. Louis County. He was a volunteer firefighter for the Esko fire department, and retired after 38 years. Scott was united in marriage to Alicia Flanagan on Aug. 3, 2002, at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Cloquet. Together they made their home in Esko and had one daughter, Annabelle. Scott was active in the Lake Superior chapter of the Minnesota Deer Hunters Association. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and snowmobiling, and loved the season of fall.
Scott is survived by his wife of 21 years, Alicia Sunnarborg; daughter, Annabelle Sunnarborg; brothers, Shawn (Margaret) Sunnarborg and Mark (Jolee) Sunnarborg; sister, LaRae (Lee) Kirby; mother, Claudia Sunnarborg; and nieces and nephews, Joe, Katy, Jordan, Macy, Mallory, and Eli. He will be especially missed by the family dog, Halle. Scott was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Sunnarborg.
Visitation: 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. service on Friday, Dec. 15 at Nelson Funeral Care in Cloquet. A luncheon will be held after the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Apostolic Lutheran Cemetery in Esko. Arrangements are entrusted to Nelson Funeral Care of Cloquet.
