When Dr. Kayla Ellison established Ellison Family Chiropractic in 2019, she wanted "Family" in the name for good reason: Patients of all ages, from infants to children to adults, receive care here based on their individual needs.
"We love caring for patients of all ages in our clinic, and serve many families," said Dr. Ellison. "We provide diverse, individualized care to our patients, focusing on their unique needs."
Located in the West End of Cloquet at the corner of Avenue C and Arch Street, the clinic itself has been serving the Cloquet and surrounding communities since 2011. Dr. Ellison joined the practice in 2014, first as an intern, then as an associate chiropractor upon graduating from Northwestern Health Sciences University (NWHSU). In May of 2019, Dr. Ellison bought the practice, renaming it "Ellison Family Chiropractic."
Our Staff
Over the years, Ellison Family Chiropractic has grown to accommodate three providers to better serve patients and the community.
Katie Larson, D.C., joined the practice in November of 2019. She graduated from NWHSU in 2017 Emphasizing a chiropractic approach that combines physical, emotional, and spiritual needs, she welcomes patients from all walks of life. Her interests include women's health, pregnancy, and nutrition and supplementation.
Megan Nolting, D.C., joined the practice in January 2024 after completing an internship at Ellison Family Chiropractic last fall and graduating from NWHSU at the end of 2023. She brings to the practice a special interest in sports and rehabilitation. Dr. Nolting also recently completed a program for chiropractic acupuncture and will begin offering acupuncture services this spring.
Jen Saletel and Erin Rouer make sure things run smoothly on a daily basis. Jen joined the clinic in October 2021 as the office coordinator after spending 18 years in various health care fields. Erin joined the clinic in May 2022, and is the insurance and billing specialist. She is a graduate of Northern Michigan University, with a degree in social work.
Our Services
Chiropractic is a primary health care profession that involves assessing joint function and stability to determine the nature of musculoskeletal disorders. Chiropractic treatment involves joint manipulation (adjustments), soft tissue work, rehabilitation through stretches and exercises, and general health and lifestyle counseling. The providers at Ellison Family Chiropractic offer various types of adjustments, such as manual and instrument-assisted (Activator), to meet their patients' needs and preferences.
In addition to chiropractic adjustments, they administer physiotherapies such as therapeutic ultrasound, electrical muscle stimulation, kinesio taping, and therapeutic cold laser. As Certified Medical Examiners, they also provide DOT medical examinations. Sports physicals are now offered as well, with the addition of Dr. Nolting and her extra training in athletics.
Dr. Ellison shared that she is proud of the clinic's great relationship with many local providers, including medical providers, physical and occupational therapists, dentists, and massage therapists.
"Coordination of care among a patient's many providers offers the best outcomes," she explained.
Over the years, pregnancy and pediatric care have become a big part of the practice. Drs. Ellison and Larson are certified to use a special assessment and adjustment protocol with pregnant women called the Webster Technique. Dr. Ellison also has special interest and additional training in pediatrics through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association.
"Pediatric adjustments are very different from adult adjustments," said Dr. Ellison. "Adjustments are modified for a child's age and size."

Ellison Family Chiropractic is open 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday, with two providers available every day. They are in network with all major insurance companies; they also accept VA Community Care referrals, auto accidents, and workers' compensation cases. Cash rates are available as well.
