A hometown newspaper with a local office, local owners & lots of local news
Were you born in 1976 and are turning only 12 this year? What camp are you in: Can Leap Year babies only celebrate a birthday on Feb. 29? On off years, should they celebrate Feb. 28 or March 1?
So many questions. None of them earth-shattering, but quizzical nonetheless. The Pine Knot News wants to hear from Leap Year babies from age 1 to 150. Tell us about your unique date in personal history. Tell us how you celebrate.
If nothing else, just let us know you are a Leap Year baby and we’ll publish a special page honoring all those to answer the call.
We plan to dig into the history behind adding Feb. 29 to the calendar only sporadically. We’ll provide fun facts, like this one: We can’t say Leap Years come every four years because they do not occur every four years. What’s the deal with our calendar that we need this mostly quadrennial fix? And what are some of the myths and superstitions about Feb. 29?
But we want to focus on people in the community who celebrate this special kind of birthday. Let us know by emailing: [email protected], with Leap Year in the subject line. We can’t wait to hear from all of you.
