Obituary: Carol Marie Douglas

Carol Marie Douglas, age 68, passed away suddenly on Saturday, Dec. 23, 2023, at home. She was born Aug. 16, 1955, the daughter of Robert and Helen (Isakson) Douglas.

Carol graduated from Carlton High School in 1973. She retired from Black Bear Casino in 2020, after many years. Carol was very active in the Carlton VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and she held many positions in the Auxiliary over the years. She was proud to serve veterans and did many things, not just for the veterans, but in the community to make it a better place.

Carol was very witty and had a great sense of humor. If you were lucky enough to receive one of her “care packages” on your birthday or as a gift at Christmas, you were sure to find out soon just how witty she really was. She was always working on some sort of craft project, whether it be knitting, crocheting, painting, or making some beautiful artwork as gifts for family and friends. Her family was most important to her. Family get togethers were often with her children and grandchildren. She was an excellent cook and baker. For family meals it was often requested that she make some of her spaghetti sauce, mashed potatoes, or chicken salad, those are only a few of the many delicious things she made. Her grandchildren became a bright spot in her life, and she thoroughly enjoyed being with them and watching them at school performances or sporting events. She will greatly be missed by all her loved ones, especially her daughter. Being right next door to each other; there were almost daily visits whether she walked to her daughter’s, or her daughter came to her place – then they still would have to talk on the phone daily! They never ran out of things to talk about.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers, Roy, Watt, and Gary Douglas. Although they were divorced, Carol and Richard Schultz were good friends and had a special relationship that will be missed. Carol will be deeply missed by her children, Brian (Danielle) Schultz and Sheila (Mike) Kinder; ten grandchildren, Bradlee, Annabell, Charles, Douglas, Myles, and Hartley Pearson, McKinley and Hunter Schultz, Georgianna and Mabel Kinder; two brothers, Donald and David (Leslie) Douglas; one sister, Sandra (James) Synder; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 9, at Nelson Funeral Care in Cloquet with a visitation from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. memorial service. A lunch reception will follow in the Fellowship Room. Arrangements are entrusted to Nelson Funeral Care. To sign the online registry, visit http://www.nelsonfuneralcare.net.
