With the holidays over, I’m wishing everyone a very happy and healthy New Year.
The mayor of Cromwell reported that 31 kids visited Santa and Mrs. Claus at City Hall on Dec. 16. The visit is sponsored by the Cromwell Area Community Club and the City. So, thanks for doing this.
Congratulations to this year’s homecoming candidates at Cromwell-Wright school: Cole Aho, Tanner Collman, Wyatt Goranson, Maxwell Hanni, Johnathon Schiller, Jillian Anderson, Aurora Gervais, Kyra Granholm, Mya Gronner, and Emaleigh Olesiak. A homecoming ceremony will take place on Friday, February 9.
Our sympathies to the family of Ellen Maki, 93, formerly of Cromwell, who passed away Jan. 1. Visitation was scheduled for 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service Friday, Jan. 12 at Faith Lutheran Church in Forest Lake.
Postage will be going up on Jan. 21. Forever stamps will go from 66 cents to 68 cents.
The Young Old Timers group is interested in finding out if anyone in the area does catering, as some of the meals could be catered, as the group is getting older and it’s more and more difficult to have members bringing food. Just call me at 218-357-2385 if you are interested or know someone who is.
The first YOT senior dance of 2024 will be held 1-4 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 25 at the Cromwell Park Pavilion.
There was an interesting article in the Dec. 30 Duluth News Tribune about Gordon Bushnell and the road he tried to promote as a direct route from Duluth to Fargo. I know where that road is, and walked it several times back in the 1980s. Anyway, it’s an interesting story worth reading about.
There is no school Friday and Monday, Jan. 12 and 15.
The Cromwell-Wright Dollars for Scholars annual meeting is at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 17 at the Cromwell-Wright school commons area.
