The University of Wisconsin-Superior announced its dean’s list for the fall 2023 semester. To be named to the list, students must have completed 12 degree-seeking semester credits and achieved at least a 3.50 grade point average on a 4.0 scale. Students from the area earning the honor include:

Northwood Technical College announced scholarships recently through the Northwood Technical College Foundation. Each semester, the Northwood Tech Foundation has an application period for students to apply for scholarships. The Northwood Tech Foundation awarded 140 scholarships for a total of $79,196, with the average award equaling $570, to aid students with paying for school this spring. Those from the area earning scholarships include

Maddy Lawrey, daughter of Micheal Lawrey of Cloquet, has received the Bidders Bowl Scholarship and Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship at North Dakota State University.

The Bidders Bowl Scholarship recognizes incoming students who show potential for high academic achievement, and the Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship recognizes incoming transfer students who are members of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.

Lawrey entered NDSU in the fall and is majoring in psychology. In high school, Lawrey was active in the Phi Theta Kappa and Community College Honor Society.

The 2024-25 Free Application for Federal Student Aid is now open for students and families to access financial aid for college and career/trade school. The FAFSA can be completed at fafsa.gov.

Federal Student Aid launched the updated FAFSA form on Dec. 30. Currently in its soft launch period, students may experience delays while completing their FAFSA. More information about the overall FAFSA changes is available here, and the 2024-25 FAFSA timeline is available here.

Minnesota families who are attending college or career/trade school between July 1, 2024 and June 30, 2025 should complete the new 2024-25 FAFSA. All students, regardless of income, should complete the FAFSA.

The federal deadline to submit is June 30, 2025, which is also Minnesota’s deadline to access the main state financial aid program, the Minnesota State Grant. Each college and career/trade school may have its own deadline. Be sure to check with the school you’re interested in attending.
