Treat your valentine to coffee and a sweet treat at the boys basketball game tonight, Friday, Feb. 9. Dollars for Scholars will be sponsoring the fundraiser during the games. Come support the team and fundraiser and enjoy the homecoming festivities.
My sympathies to the family of Jerry Pederson, 78, of Moose Lake, who passed away Jan. 21. I got to know him when we served on the Carlton County Public Health and Human Services advisory committee a few years ago. He was such a friendly and positive person and was so proud of his 48 years of sobriety. I’m sure he was an inspiration to many. Visitation is 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. celebration of life memorial service, followed by lunch at noon, Feb. 23 at the Barnum Community United Methodist Church.
Reuben Wenstrom’s Celebration of Life is planned for noon to 3 p.m. Feb. 24 at Rich’s Cuisine Event Center in Floodwood.
Congratulations to the Lakeside Quilters of Tamarack for winning the Touchstone Energy Community Award. They were given a plaque and $500 to go toward materials for making quilts. (See story in last week’s Pine Knot.)
Yoga is at 11 a.m. Mondays at Cromwell Pavilion.
Don’t forget, there is cribbage at 6 p.m. every Thursday at the Wright Senior Center. It’s always a good time.
When you can’t come to a library, the library comes to you every three weeks. The Arrowhead Bookmobile visits Cromwell 12:30-1 p.m. at the city park on Tuesdays (Feb. 13, March 5 and 26, April 16, May 7 and 28, June 18, July 9 and 30, Aug 20, Sept 10, Oct 1 & 22, Nov. 12, and Dec. 3).
The Cromwell Area Young Old Timers will meet at noon Tuesday, Feb. 13 at the South End activity room at the Villa Vista in Cromwell. Dinner will be provided for $5. Reservations should be made by calling Lindsay at 218-644-3739 or Jennie at 218-357-2385. The next YOT Dance is 1-4 p.m. Feb. 22 at the Cromwell Park Pavilion.
