Shawn S. McKay, 52, passed away at his home in McGrath on Feb. 16, 2024. He was born May 25, 1971, in Little Falls, and grew up in Meadowlands, graduating from Meadowlands-Toivola High School in 1989.
Shawn was a hard-worker and very successful in his sheetrocking business. He was very creative and had a keen eye for the little details that made things unique.
Jordan was the most meaningful person in Shawn's life. He enjoyed every minute they spent together and their conversations. Shawn loved fishing, duck hunting and deer hunting,
especially the big bucks behind his place.
He had a different perspective on life. Conversations with him often made you think and see things differently.
Shawn was preceded in death by his grandparents, Stephen and Alice Kroll, and Wes and Loretta McKay; an uncle, Tim Kroll; and aunt, Debbie McKay.
He is survived by his wife, Wendy; stepdaughters, Candy and Corrin; and stepgrandson, Jordan. Shawn is also survived by his parents, Dan and Katie McKay of Meadowlands; sister, Chris (Kenny) Winkler of Eveleth; brother, Chad (Robin) McKay of Becker; and nieces and nephews, McCayla and Justin Winkler, and Wesley, Haden and Austynn McKay.
Visitation: 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. memorial Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, March 9 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Meadowlands, followed by a luncheon in the church social hall.
Inurnment service will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Kelsey.
