Playing its season-opener on the road on Ordean East’s newly-renovated artificial turf, the Lumberjacks (1-0) were powered by back-to-back-to-back home runs by Allie Jones, Blythe Proulx and Josie Lindstrom in the bottom of the first inning. Proulx later homered again for Cloquet, which never trailed, bashing out 16 hits in the shortened five-inning game. Jones, the game’s winning pitcher, tossed a two-hitter, while striking out 11. Five Lumberjacks recorded multiple hits, led by leadoff hitter Morgan Olesiak’s 3-for-3 day at the plate, including a triple and a double.
