A hometown newspaper with a local office, local owners & lots of local news
This past March, the Cromwell-Wright senior high choir had the privilege of embarking on a trip to honor veterans, a trip they’d been planning since October of last year. The endeavor included a trip to the Sacred Heart recording studio in Duluth on Saturday to record original songs honoring veterans, a tour at the state capitol, where they sang those songs in the rotunda and others on the capitol steps, and a plan to sing at an event honoring Vietnam War veterans in Forest Lake on Sunday.
It was a great weekend, and while they could not participate in Sunday’s event because of the weather, students and supporters had a meaningful and fun time.
This trip resulted from the students working hard to become polished and to develop themselves musically and as a choir. It was also the result of many parents working hard to support their endeavors through helping, planning, creating, and holding various fundraisers. Thanks to the overwhelming community support and donations from several area groups and businesses, we reached our fundraising goal quickly.
The choir would especially like to thank Joanne Fredrickson, Rick Greczyk, Amber Schiller, Carrie Foley, Jeana Cahoon, Masasha Smith, Suzy Goodin, and area businesses for their support.
“On Freedom’s Shore” and “Thank You, American Soldier,” songs recorded by the choir, will soon be made available to purchase online, and part of the proceeds will be donated to the choir.
It truly was a great experience.
