The Carlton school district postponed a planned meeting Wednesday of the Carlton/Wrenshall consolidation committee. Carlton schools announced the decision Tuesday on social media, citing a letter from the Wrenshall school board resetting consolidation to July 1, 2026 — one year later than originally planned.
“Our school board will discuss this new possible date at its next work session,” said the Carlton postponement notice.
The next work session for the Carlton board is scheduled for 7 p.m. May 13, with its next regular board meeting 7 p.m. May 20.
“The Wrenshall consolidation team was prepared to meet on April 24, but the meeting was postponed at Carlton’s request,” Wrenshall board chair Mary Carlson said in a statement. “We respect that Carlton would like time to process the letter that was sent to their board following Wrenshall’s April 8 business meeting. We look forward to getting back to the consolidation table just as soon as Carlton is ready.”
The Wrenshall board meets again for a work session at 6 p.m. April 29, followed by a board meeting at 6 p.m. May 6. A 5:30 p.m. public comment period precedes the board meeting.
A new consolidation committee meeting is expected to be scheduled.
