Albert J. Behrens, 94, master woodworker, woodworking teacher, world traveler, dog breeder, fisherman, hunter, charmer, loving husband, father, stepfather, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away Saturday, April 27, 2024, at St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth, surrounded by love.
He was born Oct. 27, 1929, in Pomeroy, Iowa. Al served in the Navy Seabees in the Aleutian Islands and Guam. He taught in St. Cloud.
Al was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Hermina (Eckinger) Behrens, and his sisters, Leehanna Obermiller and Herma Wiggins. He is survived by his wife, Jenifer; daughters, Anita Behrens, Debra (Andrew) Purcell, and Stephanie (Bill Smet) Warren; sons, Randy Behrens, Craig Behrens, Chuck (Rinda) Behrens, John Thomas and Jay Thomas; brother, Rudy (Reta) Behrens; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; and a host of wonderful friends.
Visitation: 2 p.m. until the 3 p.m. memorial service Saturday, May 11 at Nelson Funeral Care in Cloquet. Military honors will be presented by the Cloquet Combined Honor Guard. Coffee and refreshments will follow in the fellowship room.
