Elmer Elsworth Thomas, 74, of Cloquet passed away April 27, 2024, at his home. He was born Oct. 27, 1949, the son of Joseph and Faye Thomas.
Elmer graduated from Cromwell High School in 1970 and served in the U.S. Marines. He was married to Kathy J. Rostveit on Oct. 7, 1971, in Cromwell.
Elmer worked as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Cloquet. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, hunting, fishing and playing cribbage. He loved feeding wildlife in his backyard.
He will be remembered for his stubbornness, sense of humor, smart aleck comebacks, always having peanuts in his pockets, and his ability to sleep standing up. Elmer especially loved spending time with his grandkids and watching them play sports.
Elmer was preceded in death by his parents and daughter Allison Marie Thomas. He is survived by his wife, Kathy; children Jason Thomas and Amy Thomas; grandchildren, William Wilkinson, Aiden Wilkinson, Ryan Thomas and Adam Thomas; siblings, Robert (Linda) Thomas, Nancy Mattila, Joseph Thomas, Michael (Claudia) Thomas and Liz (Wayne) Griffith.
Visitation: 11 a.m. Friday, May 3 until the 12 p.m. memorial service at Nelson Funeral Care in Cloquet. Military honors will be presented by the Cloquet Combined Honor Guard. A light
luncheon will follow in the fellowship room.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Moments Hospice are preferred.
