Cloquet 7, Barnum 1

Cloquet’s Aydann Pollard was 3-for-3 with a pair of triples and three runs batted in to help lead the Lumberjacks by Barnum 7-1 in a prep softball game Monday at a blustery Braun Park.

Along with Pollard’s big day, teammates Josie Lindstrom, Emma Parks and Brooke Proulx all doubled as a part of an 11-hit day for Cloquet (8-5), who never trailed.

Allie Jones tossed five innings to get the win, striking out six and walking two, while not allowing an earned run. Classmate Ella Maslowski worked two innings of no-run ball in relief, allowing just one hit against eight batters.

Makenna Ziesmer had a pair of hits to lead Barnum (5-6). Ali Collelo took the loss in the circle, allowing seven runs on 11 hits, while striking out two and walking only Cloquet’s first batter.

The Lumberjacks will play their next home game against Esko at Braun Park at 3 p.m. Monday, May 13.
