George H. Olson, 89, of Mahtowa entered into eternal rest on May 7, 2024, in Duluth. He was born on Aug. 30, 1934, to Herbert and Jennie (Lahti) Olson in Mahtowa.
George served in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1959. He was married to Sarah Hopp on Jan. 31, 1958. He retired from Potlatch in 1996 after 36 years of service. He enjoyed his family and friends, his hobby farm, gardening and fish frys.
George is survived by his children, Susan (Ron) Bumann, Jeffrey Olson, Sally (Brad) Wilson, Mary (Mike DiMartino) and Greg (Nona) Olson; grandchildren Andrew Bumann, Jason Alexander (Amy), Anna DiMartino, Sarah Wilson, Jarid (Ashley) Nacey and family, and Brian (Savannah) Ronding; great-grandchildren, Gavin, Lauren and Bennett Alexander; sister Evelyn Newman; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah; grandchildren Amy (Bumann) Alexander and Evan Olson; brother, Gunnard (Netta) Olson; sister Irene (Don) Peterson; and brother-in-law James Newman.
A Time of Remembrance will be held 2-4 p.m. Friday, May 24 at Mahtowa Salem Hall on First Street in Mahtowa.
