Obituary: Darlene R. MacMillan

Darlene R. MacMillan, 77, of Carlton, Minnesota, passed away Sunday May 26, 2024, at St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth. She was born June 10, 1946, the daughter of Charlie and Myrtle (Moe) Olesiak, and grew up on the family farm in Sawyer, Minnesota. Darlene graduated from Carlton High School and married Danny MacMillan in 1965. They raised three children on the farm in Atkinson, and she also worked as a nurse's aide in Cloquet until retirement. Darlene was devoted to caring for others, always willing to help family and friends. She also enjoyed taking care of her many plants and flowers, and crafting.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, Myrtle and Charlie; husband, Danny; her brother, Charlie Boy; and good companion, Don Maki. She is survived by her children, Todd, Tim, and Kim; grandchildren, David, Tiffany, Rachel, and Isaac; her siblings, Rumpy (Carol) Olesiak, Claudia (Melvin) Omer, Char Foss, Candy (Danny) Homstad, Joy Jones, and Butch Postal; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Services for Darlene will be held Sunday, June 9, at Nelson Funeral Care in Cloquet with a visitation beginning at 1 p.m. until the 2 p.m. memorial service. A light lunch will follow. To leave an online condolence, visit http://www.nelsonfuneralcare.net.
