Maurice Fred Bandle, 96, lifelong resident of Wrenshall, passed away on May 28, 2024, at his home. He was born on Dec. 20, 1927, to Fred and Laura (Matten) Bandle. He graduated from high school in 1947. During his school years he was employed with the Great Northern Railroad, and he went on to work at Potlatch in Cloquet for over 40 years before retiring.
Maurice was united in marriage to Luella Ruhnke on Sept. 2, 1950, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Wrenshall, where he was a member until its dissolution.
Maurice had a passion for the outdoors and enjoyed time spent fishing, hunting and mowing his lawn. He also loved to travel. His favorite pastime was visiting "the Bear." Maurice had an admirable work ethic and a beloved sense of humor that will truly be missed.
Maurice is survived by his children, Marilyn (Jeff) VanHorn, Dick (Kelly) Bandle, and Alieca (Randy) Johnson; grandchildren, Jesse (Selinda) and Matthew (Andrea) Van Horn, Kaisa (Keith) Brainerd, Jorge (Kate), Jake and Jed (Sarah) Bandle, and Kristen, Rick (Alexa), Kurt and Mark Johnson; great-grandchildren, Keith, Hunter and Scout Brainerd, Fritz, Franny and Dickey Bandle, Addison Johnson, Sydney and Solomon VanHorn, and Haley and Kelsie Bandle; cousin, Alvin Matten; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Luella Bandle; sister, Verna Chevre; and brother, Russell Bandle.
Visitation: 1 p.m. until the 2 p.m. funeral service in honor of Maurice on Friday, June 7 at SonLife Church in Wrenshall. Interment will be at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Wrenshall. Arrangements are entrusted to Nelson Funeral Care in Cloquet.
