Obituary: Mary Jane Diver

RC JP

Mary Jane Diver, 73, of Cloquet passed away on June 6, 2024, at Essentia Health-St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth. She was born on July 5, 1950, to George and Emma (Reed) Diver. Mary Jane gained a second family with the staff and other residents at Pine Ridge Homes, where she resided for many years. She was always up for an adventure and loved to observe the goings-on of those around her. Mary often spent time beading bracelets and other items and loved to barter her work for her favorite food — pie. Mary was a member of the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and enjoyed attending powwows. Her loveable nature and enjoyable energy will be missed, as will her playful smile that came before her mischievous moods.

Mary Jane is survived by her Pine Ridge family: nieces Lisa (Brian), Jenny (Ryan), Jasmin, Mekaila and Debbie; nephews Bryant, Shane, Dan, Todd, Clint and Randy; cousin, Mike Murray Sr .; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Leonard, Willie, Ron, Ray and Lucille Diver, Ann Friedman, and Dorothy Bailey; nieces Linda and Patty Moye; and nephew Kevin Liebeck.

A traditional funeral service was held June 11 at the Fond du Lac Head Start Gymnasium, with interment at New Holy Family Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Nelson Funeral Care.
