No film festival in barn this year

You may have noticed something missing in the summer calendar this year. There will be no Free Range Film Festival in Wrenshall, the unique showing of films in a barn.

One of the organizers, Annie Dugan, said last year's festival proved to be a challenge when juggling family time and work at the Food Farm nearby the old barn. Other key organizers are taking a vacation in England.

"We figured it was a good time to hit the pause button," Dugan said. "We have some really enthusiastic volunteers so we're hoping that we can ramp things up for a big festival next summer with some more help in place."

Filmmakers were told to save their works for next year.

"While part of me is sad that we're not hosting folks ... for good films in a great barn," Dugan said, "I'm also relieved not having to figure out how to keep all the plates spinning."
